3 Turkish universities shortlisted for Times Higher Education awards

Three Turkish universities, Koç University, Özyeğin University and Istanbul Gelişim University, have made the shortlist for Times Higher Education’s (THE) first awards ceremony celebrating the achievement of Asian universities.

Nearly 80 universities from 21 countries or regions entered the inaugural THE Awards Asia. The winners will be announced on May 1 during the THE Asia Universities Summit in Abu Dhabi. The categories are: Leadership and Management Team of the Year, International Strategy of the Year, Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year, Outstanding Support for Students and Technological Innovation of the Year.

Koç University and Özyeğin University are nominated for the Outstanding Supports for Students category, taking their place among eight finalists.

Istanbul Gelişim University, on the other hand, will compete with other seven finalists in the International Strategy of the Year category.

“I would like to congratulate Koç, Özyeğin and Gelişim universities. They have made a strong start,” Phil Baty, the editorial director of THE, said.

The THE Awards are widely recognized as the Oscars of the higher education sector.
