AKP mayor dies after attack at his office in Bursa

DHA PhotoThe mayor of the Gürsu district in Turkey’s western province of Bursa, who was shot at his office along with his security guard, died on May 26.
Cüneyt Yıldız, the mayor of Gürsu from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) was shot by a municipal officer working at the municipality, who broke into Yıldız's office at around 3 p.m. and fired his gun, injuring the mayor and his guard.
Cüneyt Yıldız was immediately taken to hospital with his guard, who is a former specialist sergeant, after the attack.
The police officer, identified as F.B., surrendered to police late May 23 in the Central Anatolian province of Yozgat.
