Accurate information from Akşener’s front
Cihan Paçacı is an ex-economy bureaucrat. He took on important tasks at the True Path Party (DYP) and later moved to the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). He is currently putting up a struggle alongside Meral Akşener.
I asked Paçacı questions about the new party they will form. Here’s what he said:
When will it be established?
The new party will be established by the end of October. It will not extend to November.
Who will be in it?
A founders’ committee of 75 people will found the new party. They will mainly be young people, women and new names.
Will it be an alternative to the MHP?
It is not an alternative to the MHP. There will be, of course, also people from the MHP in the new party but it will not just be an alternative to the MHP, it will not position itself in that way.
Where does it position itself?
The new party will position itself in the center. Its loyalty to the founding values of the republic will be strong. It will be also sensitive to religious peoples’ rights.
What is its goal?
The new party’s main goal is to change the current political scene in the first coming election.
What about dissidents in the MHP, such as Ümit Özdağ and Koray Aydın?
Ümit Özdağ is within the new movement and is on Akşener’s side. We hope that Koray Aydın will also join as soon as possible.
What kind of a party will it be?
People from every opinion will find their values in it. It will be an open party for every group.
What will its name be?
It will have a new name. It does not have the intention to revive any of the old parties’ names again today.
If Kılıçdaroğlu had said this to the German magazine
A German magazine interviewed the leader of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, asking, “Germans are afraid of traveling to Turkey because they are afraid of being arrested. Are they right?”
“Unfortunately, there is such an atmosphere,” Kılıçdaroğlu said. But the CHP had announced later on, “It does not represent the truth, we disclaimed it.” The way Kılıçdaroğlu talked could be interpreted as saying to the German tourists not to come to Turkey. Whereas Kılıçdaroğlu could have said, “Yes, there are justice and democracy problems in our country. We are giving a political struggle in an attempt to eliminate these problems. But these problems do not have an effect on tourists visiting our country. Germans can come comfortably to our country. Our country is a favorite destination because of its touristic wonders. We are waiting for the German tourists to come to our country.”
The day Kılıçdaroğlu succeeds to talk in this manner to German journalists, it will be the day the CHP becomes a major alternative to the Justice and Development Party (AKP).
Torture
Şapatan is a village with a population of 2,000 in the eastern province of Hakkari’s Şemdinli district.
Security forces swooped in this village around midnight, broke down doors, got its people down on the ground and kicked, slapped, and then hit them with gun. There were also elderly women and children among the people beaten up. There is no returning back to the 1990s! The security forces causing this must immediately be punished! The authorities must make an announcement immediately! Human dignity has always defeated torture and it will.
