İzmir festival says humor against darkness

İzmir festival says humor against darkness The third İzmir Humor Festival will be organized from April 1 to 4 with the theme “humor against darkness.” 

The event will open with the exhibition “Caricature and Censorship” and continue with a presentation by the curator of the exhibition, Turgut Çeviker, on censorship and pressures on cartoons since the reign of Abdulhamid II in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

On the same day, writer Levent Cantek will discuss popular culture, humor and opposition, while writer Canan Tan will focus on literature and humor. 

On the second day, the festival will host cartoonists from Leman magazine, while Behiç Pek, Erhan Candan, Suat Özkan, Bahadır Boysal and Doğan Pehlevan will organize an open cartoon workshop event. 

On April 2 and 3, the festival will screen films and a talk titled “Cinema and Humor,” moderated by Vecdi Sayar. 

On the last day, the festival program will continue with music presentations and a theater play titled “The Servant, The King and The Others.”
