British tourist found dead in hotel room in Turkey’s Marmaris A British tourist was found dead by his wife in the hotel they were staying at in the resort town of Marmaris in the Aegean province of Muğla on May 12.

Mark Jevis James, 47, fell ill at the hotel on May 11. Emergency health personnel were called to the hotel but left upon refusal of treatment. The following morning James’ wife found her husband dead in the hotel room and informed the hotel’s staff of the situation.

Meanwhile, police found a drug sold with a red prescription containing narcotics in the room. An examination was conducted and it was revealed the drug was purchased without a prescription.

Police detained a pharmacy technician on the grounds of selling the drug without a prescription.

Samples from the drinks in the room were also taken for examination.

The investigation into the death of the tourist was ongoing.

On May 10, another British tourist, who allegedly beat his girlfriend in Muğla’s resort town of Fethiye before fleeing their hotel, was found dead inside a well in a forested area near the hotel.
