An F-16 fighter jet belonging to the Turkish Air Force crashed in Central Anatolia on Dec. 1, the Turkish military has stated.

The aircraft crashed in the province of Amasya’s Merzifon district.

The General Staff said the jet’s pilot had survived, but it did not specify the exact cause of the incident.

The jet had taken off from the Fifth Air Force Command base.
