Galatasaray High School: Dating back to the 15th Century, Galatasaray High School is one of the country’s most influential and prestigious schools, as its oldest high school and second oldest educational institution after Istanbul University. Located centrally on İstiklal Avenue, the high school’s language of instruction is French. Turkey’s famous football club Galatasaray was formed and named after the high school.

Istiklal Avenue: Here is an old photo of one of Istanbul’s most touristic and crowded spots: İstiklal Avenue. Stretching between Taksim Square and the historic Tünel (a funicular between Beyoğlu and Karaköy), the avenue was the city’s most famous throughway in the 19th Century.

The Grand Bazaar: One of Istanbul’s lifelines, recently named the city’s “most valuable spot,” the Grand Bazaar is home to around 4,000 stores. Located in the city’s historical peninsula, it is a Byzantine construction later enlarged by Sultan Mehmed II.

Rumelihisarı: Rumelihisarı is an old fortress located in Istanbul’s Sarıyer district on the European side. The fortress was built by Sultan Mehmed II before his conquest of Constantinople. It still provides beautiful scenes of Istanbul and hosts a number of cafes especially popular for breakfast among Istanbulites.

Fountain of Ahmed III: The rococo-styled fountain is placed in front of the Imperial Gate of Topkapı Palace. It was built by Sultan Ahmed III in the first half of the 18th century and served as a gathering venue during Istanbul during Ottoman times.
