THURSDAY 7:00 p.m. - Saturday night is actually Thursday night in Iran, where Friday is the weekly holiday. Leave a bit early to see the night panorama of the city from Milad Tower by the Alborz Mountains overlooking Tehran. Narrow streets, flowers and traditional jam boutiques will enchant you.

9:00 p.m. - Monsoon Lounge is your correspondents’ favorite venue in Tehran. Its sushi, rolls and meat are world-class. You will feel yourself in Paris with wonderful employees and customers around. The music, too, is great. It was playing a track by Parisian DJ Claude Challe. At Monsoon Lounge, you should be social to be invited to a party. A reservation is required. Goldan Avenue, No: 2 (Tel: 0098 21 2204 4813)

FRIDAY 10:30 a.m. - Don’t say “It’s Friday” and go back to sleep. Leave early and take a brunch at Chai Bar. This venue is in the garden of an art center. Food is great. Eat well because we’ll be climbing a mountain. North Salimi Blvd (Tel: 0098 21 2221 0313).

3:00 p.m. - A lunch at Yas across Millat Park in Tehran is a Friday tradition for wealthy Iranian families. It is one of the best restaurants for traditional Iranian cuisine. Choose chelokababi and then ask for an egg, which will make them bring you the yolk. Take it, put it on your hot rice and mix it with sumak spice and tereyaki. Iranians will congratulate you for this purely local food move, but don’t eat too much if you don’t want a heart attack.

5:30 p.m. - Friday is the exhibition day. In Tehran’s north, there are neighborhoods that look like Zurich. Start with Etemad Gallery. Say hello to the owner from us and listen to his recommendations. Do not skip the Aun and Aaran galleries. Art pieces are quite political and impressive.

8:00 p.m. - Party again? If you still don’t have a large enough social circle to get tickets for parties, you should make more of an effort. Talk to people and ask what they plan to do at night. Just slide. Don’t worry, nothing bad will happen.

10:30 p.m. - If you are invited to a home party through a friend or a person that you have just been acquainted with, enjoy the risk. It is forbidden, but generally tolerated. You can be detained for a couple of days and women may be forced to take virginity tests, although it is really a rare practice. Bring a dessert or chocolate to the party. Leave the alcoholic drinks to the host for the sake of not going blind by being duped by homemade arak, a local booze. The only place in Tehran where alcohol is legally served and women are not forced to cover their heads is the Armenian Club. 68 Khark Avenue No. 68 (Tel: 00 98 21 667 00 521)
