977 smuggled chinchilla furs seized in Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport
Turkish customs have seized 977 chinchilla furs from three people attempting to smuggle them into Turkey at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport.
On Feb. 9, customs officials have kept a Turkish passenger flying from Copenhagen to Istanbul under close watch after getting suspicious of him, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Feb. 14.
The man was caught carrying chinchilla furs when he was stopped while trying to leave the customs.
On the same day, police carried out searches on two other passengers, a Turk and a Ugandan, flying from Uganda. Police seized 887 packs of body-building pills from their luggage.
The police have initiated legal action against all three suspects.
