50 detained in KCK probe

ADANA - Doğan News Agency
At least 50 people including Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) district leaders and journalists were detained yesterday in an operation against the Kurdish Communities Union (KCK).

Police conducted the operations in six cities, mainly in the southern province of Adana as well as Hatay, Gaziantep, Kahramanmara, Adıyaman and Istanbul.

Among the detained are Dicle News Agency reporters Ali Buluş and Özlem Aguş as well as BDP Adana province’s Ceyhan district leader Hüseyin Ogaç, according to reports.

The operations were the first following a crisis between Turkey’s intelligence staff and police in which a specially authorized prosecutor in Istanbul called Turkey’s top intelligence staff to testify in a probe into the KCK, the alleged urban wing of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
