5-star hotels surge

Last year saw the sharpest increase in the number of five-star hotels among all hotels in Turkey, according to the latest sector report by the Turkish Hoteliers Association (TÜROFED).The number of facilities and enterprises certified by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism exceeded 3,800 in the first half of this year, with 2,885 of them accommodation facilities, the TÜROFED’s 2013 Tourism Report said.
The number of five-star hotels increased to 413 from 375 over the past year, a majority of which were based in Antalya and Istanbul. The number of four-star hotels increased from 578 to 602 as the number of two and one-star hotels, pensions and apartment hotels showed a decline.
