Defense Ministry has received the data of 4x4 vehicle owners from provincial security directorates, as part of measures linked to the Syria crisis.

The Prime Minister’s Office has sent a notification to Turkey’s key emergency organizations, warning them to be ready to take the necessary measures in the event of an emergency linked to the Syria crisis.

Related to possible emergencies, the Ministry of Defense has also received the data of 4x4 vehicle owners from provincial security directorates.

A senior Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) official said they had been notified by the Prime Minister’s Office and that 3,000 staff personnel had been appointed for an “Emergency Intervention Team” to be possibly mobilized, according to daily Hürriyet.

The Security General Directorate has also started documentation work listing 4x4 land vehicles, in a notification sent to all provincial security directorates across Turkey. In an emergency situation, these vehicles will be able to taken under the use of the state, according to the notification. Vehicle owners who were chosen by the police will be invited to police stations in order to sign the service summons notice.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) is also at alarm level, according to the report.

Expert team in border

The AFAD has sent an expert team to Turkey’s border with Syria, investigating potential chemical, biologic, radioactive and nuclear weapons use. It is also preparing for a possible migration wave in the event of a military operation in Syria.

“This is an emergency action plan for chaos in the region, not for a migration wave. Preparation for building new tent cities and stocking basic human needs have already been done before. We have formed our teams to dispatch for emergency cases, our mobilized teams are standing by,” the Kızılay official stated.

Tensions have risen between Western countries and Syria after the alleged chemical attack in the northern Syrian city of Gouta by the Syrian regime.
