13 ISIL suspects detained in Turkey’s Adana
ADANA – Anadolu Agency
At least 13 Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) suspects have been detained in the southern province of Adana as part of an investigation into an alleged terror attack plot on the U.S. embassy in Ankara, a security source said March 7.
In dawn raids across the city, counterterrorist units apprehended at least 13 people, including Syrian nationals, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
According to state-run Anadolu Agency, the police detained the suspects in simultaneous dawn raids on homes, using battering rams to break down doors at some locations.
Twelve of the suspects are Syrian nationals, the agency said.
More than 300 people have lost their lives in ISIL-claimed attacks in Turkey, where the terror group has targeted civilians in suicide bomb, rocket and gun attacks.
